James Brown Famous Flames Bbq Reviews
I lived in Avon Park for 10 years and absolutely loved their food. I have since moved away, but have recently made plans to travel through and make a stop in Avon Park to say hello to friends and get a bite to eat. I inquired on yelp to see if they were still in business especially after the pandemic and was happy to see that they are. If anyone happens to be traveling Highway 27 they should make plans to stop here and try some fantastic barbecue. They are off the beaten path but it's well worth it. Definitely try the corn nuggets!
Everyone should have a nearby BBQ Joint that they love and that's fairly easy in Florida because there are bunches of them! This one is less than 5 easy miles from my abode. Back Story- I'm a huge supporter of businesses that give back to the community and James is the Poster Child for that in my little town. He's always there when charities or volunteer organizations need help and that is hugely appreciated! I return the favor by patronizing him as much as I can. Arriving- It's off the beaten path but your GPS will easily find it. Parking is a tiny lot but there is usually a space. Pro Tip- They have limited hours so take a minute to check before you go. Ambience- It's too tiny to have much ambience! The entire place is four booths but there is also outside seating. Customer Service- You order, pick up, and pay for your food at the counter. The menu is on the wall. I've found the folks at the register to always be just fine. Food- Typical small Q joint. Ribs, Pulled Pork, Brisket etc. Lots of typical sides. He does have a fryer so there's French fries, hush puppies, corn nuggets etc. I went with a Brisket Platter with two sides, and I picked corn nuggets and cole slaw. I got it to-go and it was about $17. As always it was a very satisfying meal! The brisket was nice and tender, The corn nuggets were still hot, and the slaw was crispy fresh. I love the mustard bbq sauce. A solid meal that really hit the spot! Stop by here for great Q!
Okaaaayyy! Helllll-oooo, you amazing little gem! We stopped and got takeout for the park. We were driving by and did a U-Turn to try this place. I stayed in the car with our toddler, but my dude said the people working here were soooo nice and he kept raving about how nice they were. He's usually a complainer, so this is a huge compliment. Another customer overheard we just saw it on the road, and he said he eats there every week and you can't go wrong! The food was soooo good. I love me a good brisket because I grew up in Texas. Sadly it's hard to find! But it's good here! Loved their mustard bbq sauce too. And the fries were perfectly crispy. The collard greens had amazing flavor. The peach cobbler was perfection. I'm glad we got a pound of brisket cuz I'm going to eat the shit outta it!
Best ribs in the country by far worth the drive thick juicy and not to smoky really good pepper bark !
Very low key counter service but the food is outstanding! Styrofoam plates and packaging plastic water bottles. The food tastes very good with a nice smoke ring on the brisket!
